American Academy of Professional Coders Selects Globerian as the Exclusive
Provider of Medical Coding Training, Examination and Certification in India

Indian Healthcare BPO industry to get a boost from the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Globerian and American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)

New Delhi, September 19, 2007 - Globerian, a leading healthcare BPO provider announced today an exclusive Memorandum of Understanding with American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). As per the MoU, Globerian will be the exclusive representative of AAPC in Northern India to conduct Medical Coding training and examination for CPC, CPC (H) and CPC (P) certifications. Presently, Indian BPO firms send their employees to the U.S. for examination and certification.

With more than 49,000 certified medical coders as members, the AAPC is the largest and most recognized organization of its kind. The organization conducts certified professional coder examination and certification for one of the fastest growing industries – healthcare. Medical Coding is an integral part of the U.S. healthcare industry where diagnosis and treatments performed by healthcare providers are listed as codes on a patient’s record. These codes are critical not only in ensuring proper patient care, but also in ensuring proper billing and reimbursement.

“Globerian has a great reputation and a successful track record in Revenue Cycle Management services and has highly skilled certified medical coders to impart medical coding training” said Mr. Reed Pew, CEO of AAPC. “Globerian has a long association with AAPC and it meets and exceeds all the criteria that are laid down by AAPC for such a partnership.” While addressing a gathering of professional medical coders at Globerian, Mr. Pew shared his excitement for the rapidly growing medical coding field. According to Mr. Pew, the demand for certified medical coders is increasing beyond the current certification rate. This demand will ensure that both U.S.-based and India-based certified medical coders will enjoy an increasing workflow.

“We are very pleased to be selected by the AAPC as the exclusive provider of professional medical coding training and certification in India,” said Mr. Naveen Trehan, CEO of Globerian. “This will open new opportunities for the highly skilled Indian workforce while enabling India-based healthcare BPOs to cut costs and increase revenues by training employees in-country rather than sending them to the U.S. for training and certification.”
